What “hosted by The Email Shop” means
If you visited a web address and saw a page headed “Landing page courtesy of The Email Shop”, that domain is registered, in active use and hosted on our servers in the United Kingdom. Its owner uses it for services such as business email and has not published a public website on it.
The page you saw
We show a courtesy page on domains that are hosted with us and have no public website of their own, so that a visitor sees a clear statement about the address instead of an empty folder. The page makes three statements about the domain.
Registered domain
The name is registered to its owner and resolves on the internet. It is not a lapsed or unclaimed address.
Active and in use
The domain sits on a live hosting account with us. Its owner uses it for services such as business email.
Hosted in the United Kingdom
The account is held on our servers in Derby, United Kingdom.
The page is not a for-sale notice, and it does not mean the domain has lapsed.
Is the domain genuine?
Yes, in the sense that matters for an address: it is a real, registered domain that is in use. Plenty of businesses, clubs and families use a domain only for email, with addresses such as name@theirdomain.co.uk, and never put a website on it.
What the page cannot tell you is who you are dealing with. We host the domain. We do not own it, and we are not part of its owner’s business. Treat a message from any address the way you would treat a letter, and check that the sender is who you expect.
Reaching the owner of a domain
Use the email address or contact details the owner gave you. A domain’s email is not affected by it having no website.
We cannot share our customers’ details, and we cannot pass general messages on to them.
Reporting a problem
If a domain we host has been used for spam, phishing or anything else that looks like misuse, you can report it to support@theemailshop.co.uk. Include:
- the domain name;
- what happened, and the date and time;
- for an email, the full message headers, not only the visible text.
If it is your domain
- Read your email
- Add /webmail to your domain’s address, or use the Open webmail button on the courtesy page.
- Manage your account
- Invoices, services and support tickets are in the client area.
- Put a website on it, or change the page
- The courtesy page is the homepage file in your website folder. Replace it with your own site, or delete it. If you need somewhere to host a site, see web hosting or WordPress hosting.
